Qatar is the host of the 2022 FIFA World Cup has warned the public not to use the illegal 2022 World cup logo on license plates. Because Qatar auctioned dozens of license plates at a price of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The Qatari Interior Ministry posted a warning on its Twitter account that violators will face legal action: “It is strictly forbidden to copy and install the 2022 World Cup logo on the license plate. The number plate with the World Cup 2022 logo is a special edition released under specific terms and conditions in cooperation with FIFA… and only for special number plates to be auctioned.”

Accordingly, 50 license plates bearing the 2022 World Cup logo participate in the auction held in May and the highest price auctioned license plate is at 1.8 million Qatari riyals ($494,000).

Also in May, Qatari authorities said five people had been arrested “for advertising the sale of clothing bearing the 2022 World Cup logo without prior approval from FIFA”, the brand protection organization said.
