British Typhoon Fighter Jets to Help Guard 2022 Qatar World Cup

The FIFA World Cup 2022 will be held this November in Qatar. The host country has already completed all preparations to host the Greatest Show on Earth event. The government of the country has arranged warplanes for the sake of security during the tournament.

According to Qatar’s official news agency, “QNA,” the country has imported British “Typhoon” fighter planes to protect its airspace. The news agency reported that a Typhoon fighter plane was reportedly inaugurated at Wharton Air Base in the UK a week ago.

In the presence of the two countries’ defense ministers, the first of the 24 fighter planes were handed over to the Qatar Emiri Air Force on that day. There were the Deputy Prime Minister and State Minister for Defense Affairs of Qatar. Al Atiya Khalid Bin Mohammed Major General Jassim Mohammed Ahmed Al Mannai, commander of the Qatar Emiri Air Force, was also present. The plane is expected to arrive in Qatar this month.

The UK Air Force would train Qatari pilots to fly the fighter planes. Besides, there are claims that the sides will work on aircraft maintenance and repair.

Several other countries, along with the United Kingdom, will assist the country in increasing security during the World Cup in Qatar. Jordan has offered to use former military personnel to provide security at the World Cup. Turkey has stated that it will send chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear defense experts to the FIFA World Cup 2022.
